word 2000 blackout

Computer reboots unexpectively while working with Word 2000.
Wat's wrong ?

It seems unlikely that word could cause this. What's the operating sytem?

Windows 98, works on Asus CUV4X-EA motherboard, 256 Mb Dram,
P6C coppermine pentium III e(B)500-1 1.13 G

A little more info please. Does this happen only in Word? Is there a certain point when it happens? Like copying or printing or such? Or is it random?

It happens at random, sometimes not for weeks !
And then the *%**°*xxx thing starts again.

In that case, I would suggest a weekly cleanup of the system, and then see if the problem persists.

Had similar problem using Access2000. Replaced motherboard and had the problem go away.

Had a similar problem on another system, it went away when I turned off powersaving. Problem has not re-ocurred. This didn't fix it on the first system though.

Would look at a hardware problem. The fact that it shows up on Word may be due to the fact that Word is what is run most of the time. Time flies when you don't know what you're doing...

Well...
when the mouse was replaced (by accident to be honest) no problems since ! Still strange to have a mouse be faulty with word alone !
