There must be some setting in WMP10 to help this, or maybe a hotfix or seomthing, but I can't find one.

When I play a 16:9 DVD in PowerDVD, it opens and plays fine. When I try to play a DVD in WMP10, it takes about a minute before it starts playing, but then when it finally starts, it squishes the 16:9 Picture into 4:3 size, making everything look squished.

Any ideas? (I realise I could just use PowerDVD, but with Quicktime and Real Alternative not working for me, I don't want to have any more media players than I currently have, if I can help it...)

I'm not sure if wmp10 is a full dvd player, so might not support many things, or not play thing properly...

but this is just conjecture, I stay well away from wmp myself, if at all possible...

I am. The WMP Decoder Checker Utility says that my "Cyberlink DVD Decoder" (fully updated) is "Fully compatible with Windows Media Player 10".

maybe there's force aspect ratio settings on wmp10 which you can set...

If your having problems with WMP10 playing any DVD, It is in your CODECS.. recommend you update to the latest version of ???? Codec... WMP10 is very touchy about Codecs.

Quoted from me:

"The WMP Decoder Checker Utility says that my "Cyberlink DVD Decoder" (fully updated) is "Fully compatible with Windows Media Player 10"."

Therefore, the codecs are up to date.
