This might not be the best forum for this, but don't know where else to post this question. I still use Windows Media Player 8, is it worth it to upgrade to WMP 9?

I have WinXP Pro (SP1)

Unless you have a very good reason not to it is time to go for SP2 as SP1 does not receive security updates any more.

If you can get it, 9 is (IMHO) better than 8 and 10 is better again. But 11 (the current offering) is cool - very cool - but full of issues & minor irritations.

I would say yes, but that is just my personal opinion. WMP 8 must have been released years ago, 9 is two versions old too.

Any reason you don't want to go with SP2 and WMP 11?

You should try to at least Update to 10. 11 can wait until all bugs and issues are fixed.

Also Updating to SP2 should be priority, so you can get the security patches.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

First priority is to upgrade to SP2. Then I would upgrade to Media Player 10. The 11 version has some glitches that need to be resolved before I'll upgrade to it. For now, I'm happy with 10. Save yourself some grief & upgrade to SP2 ASAP and IE7 also.
