I'm having a problem with one of my servers (Windows 2000 sp3). For some reason my backups are failing (Veritas v8.6). The error report shows that the WMI registry could not be backed up.

From there, I went into computer management, and under Services and Applications, went into WMI control. Right click on that and choose Properties. It says it's connected, but I get the error Failed to connect to <local computer> because "WMI: Initialization failure".

I can't figure out what went wrong here, and more importantly, how to fix it. I have admin rights. The server seems to be working fine otherwise, but I would like this fix. Any help is appreciated.
