Suddenly I'm getting a WMI error window when I use certain programs. Nothing in the system has changed: no new hardware, software, settings, etc. Machine was working fine yesterday. (Yesterday, I could get a dial-up connection of 31.2 - fast for our area. Now the best I can get is 19.2! But our other PC's can get 31.2 - 33.3!)

I've done an SFC /Scannow but it didn't seem to make any difference. Also, when I try to uninstall a program through Control Panel, I either get the WMI error or an error that says the install program may be corrupted.

?????

thanks in advance for any help

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

Have you tried System Restore going back to before the problem?

Error Message: The Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) Information Might Be Corrupted

Possibly some iformation here to help.

There are some things about WMI under the heading "All"

"Help and Support " Does Not Collect All Hardware Information

WinMgmt could not initialize the core parts: To reinstall wmi into the registry:

Go to Start/Run and type in: CMD, then Winmgmt/? for information. Then run each of these hitting enter after each:

winmgmt/clearadap
winmgmt/kill
winmgmt/unregserver
winmgmt/regserver
winmgmt/resyncperf
