Sony notebook running XP Home with Dlink wireless card works great connecting to SMC 7004VWBR wireless router.
However, in parts of the house the signal couldn't be picked up, so we got the SMC 2655W Access Point to try to extend the signal to the rest of the house.
Setup the AP no problem as 192.168.2.50. Used the "default" ssid (same as the router) and the Dlink utility on the the laptop now sees this AP and has good signal/link.
However, can't get a network connection with it. When the laptop is connected to the router it gets DHCP and gets online no problem. When its in the other part of the house and connects to the AP (with a good signal) all net connection is lost.
Does XP require a different "wireless connection" for each AP/router?

...or someone else will do it for you.
