Wireless VS ethernet ....

Hi,
We have an old Acer laptop whihc is connected to our network via ethernet, we added a PCMCI wireless G to it and it works fine, the only problem is the access to network is very slow, even when it's plugged to network by ethernet, there is no way to prioritize the connection for the OS, unless we unplug/disable the wireless.
ANy idea how we can tell OS etherenet has higher priority than wireless??
