I have a small business client I do some work for. He has an acer laptop running vista home premium. The laptop has an atheros ar5007eg wireless card. He purchased a Linksys wrt150n router that I set-up for him.

I have absolutely no experience with vista. From using his laptop while traveling I noticed vista has retained the name of all of the wireless networks as well as the one the wireless card in the laptop has picked-up. I have put his wireless network as the first one in the list. However, it continues to connect to an unsecured wireless network that is in his area.

Is there a way in vista to ensure that it attempts to connect to his network first? I did delete all of the other networks, however, they seem to reappear after every reboot.

If my ramblings do not make any sense let me know an I will try to clarify.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Right Click on the preferred network...

Properties -> Connections (might be called something else, but the first TAB on the opening window)...

There you can tell VISTA to AUTOMATICALLY connect to that network...
