Hi
I am interested to know if there are any accessories/peripherals that can allow a desktop computer to have wireless internet access? I understand some Dell lap top computers have the possibility of having a 'true mobile' card inserted to allow wireless internet access. Is it possible for a desktop to have have this card or a similar one inserted to allow wireless internet access? I am not planning on moving my desktop about. It will be in one place, but having a telephone line connection put in the area of where the desktop will be may cause some difficulty, hence the reason for enquiring about whether it is possible for the desktop to have wireless internet access?

Any info on this subject will be really appreciated.
Thank you

Yes, that is quite possible. You would need 2 essential components: 1. A wireless access point (transmitter). 2. Network adapter w/ antenna (receiver for desktop).
The wireless access point is hard wired to your internet source (cable modem, DSL modem, etc.) and will act as a router for your wireless network. The Network adapter w/ antenna is usually installed in a PCI slot (recommended) or through the USB port. Linksys makes all of these components, and they have a strong history.
