Hello.

I have a user running Windows XP Professional. He uses XP to handle his Wireless internet connection. Last week he brought his laptop to me, and showed me that the wireless icon in his start menu was gone. After looking at this, I noticed the wireless connection icon was also missing from the Network Connections folder.

Everything I've seen about this claims it's probably a driver issue. However, I don't think this is the case because he DOES still get a wireless connection, it just doesn't physically show that he does.

Any thoughts on this?

But are you able to see the icon at the Control Panel?
If you does, when double click on it, you should be able to see a list of type of connections available to his laptop.

Assuming the wireless connection is on, right click on it and select Properties.

On the pop-up dialog, at the General tab, check the bottom two check boxes.

Hope this help.

Hello. I'm not sure what you mean. I can see the Network Connections folder in the Control Panel if that's what you're asking. My problem isn't getting to the Network Connections folder. My problem is when I open this folder, the only connection listed is his VPN connection. The Wireless and his LAN connection do not show up in this folder, so there's nothing I can right click on. :p

If I run ipconfig on his machine, he does receive a valid IP address for the Wireless connection, so it is working. It just doesn't show up in the Network Connections folder.

disord3r - Thanks, I think that may help. Just curious, what did you search for? I looked around gogle for about 20 minutes this morning and didn't see that article.
