Hi all.

We have just swapped ISP's for our business and no longer have DCHP. So I have to manually configure every machine we have throught the building. Now I have a Aironet 1200 connected throught the switch that cannot be setup due to the fact that anyone that tries to connect to it can only see it. They would have to know the available IP, DNS, and gateway to connect.

I have a Cisco 2651 router available that we just disconnected, due to the fact that they installed a 1700 series router.

Is there anyway to integrate the old router with the new one in order to place the wireless in a secure environemt as well as provide public access to our customers?

Thanks for any help

Can you just clarify what it is you want to do? does the aironet connect to the ISP or is it the 1700?

why does changing ISP mean that you lose DHCP, is it because the old ISP router issued it, simply set up your new 1700 to issue it.

do you have access to all these devices?

is the setup ISP=> 1700=> aironet=> switch=> LAN, or

ISP=>1700=>switch=>-aironet
-LAN

They disconnected the aironet from the 2651 and connected it to the switch. The old router(2651)issued dchp and the new one does not. I do not have access to the 1700 router. I do have access to the 2651 router, but it is no longer on the network, it is just sitting there. I have access to the aironet.

setup= visual> 1700> switch> lan

thanks

Ok sounds as if you need to put the 2651 back on the network and set it up like this;

ISP=>1700=>2651=>switch=>-LAN
|
----aironet

the 2651 will be the default gateway for all devices on he LAN, including the aironet.
but you will need some help from your ISP, you need to know what the LAN IP of the 1700 is and if need be will they change it for you. the 2651 can then still be used for DHCP.

the diagram is wrong the aironet should be connected to the switch and not to the 2651.
