Boot into safe mode, disable your virus scanner from starting automatically.
You should be able to check your e-mail.
Also, if you know the name of the virus, I would go on the net and download a fix for it. Most viruses have a dos-based fix for them that will remove it from your system.
Try Google and do a search for the virus name with keywork "fix"
