Trying to connect 2 computers to a home workgroup.

1 WinXP Home Edition
1 Win98SE

I have the two systems set for the exact same workgroup name. The win98 system sees the workgroup and sees itself.

The winxp home system sees the workgroup but does not see itself. Even turning the firewall off completely on this system does not help.

I want to be able to share a printer from the winzp to the 98se system. I have file print sharing set up already.

Any ideas
Thanks

There are a number of possible places where the failure could be occurring. First, make sure that device manager shows no problems with your network card. If no problems there, reset your winsock service as mentioned in faq779-4625

Hide Workstation from Network Browser Listing

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters
New Value (DWORD) = Hidden = 0 or 1 (1 = hide) then reboot
