Tried the following:

Uninstall and Reinstall Office 2003 (Both Word And Otlook)

Renamed the normal.dot file

Updated Windows

Updated Ofiice

Anyone know anything else I can try. Word 2003 operates normal on its own. Its only when we try to reply to emails in outlook that winword.exe hits 100%. Using another email editor is not an option.

TIA

Not sure why it is doing that, but I am curious as to why using another email editor is not an option. Bottom line is Word is crap for doing this.

The customer is used to the look and feel of outlook when using ms Word as the editor. Outlook looks like crap when you remove word as an editor and makes the user feel uncomfortable.

I think you will find that there is an email.dot (or mail.dot) with Office 2003. Rename it as email.bad and test again. IIRC, it is in Documents and Settings, Application Data, Microsoft, Templates.
