WINWORD.exe has generated errors,and will be closed by Windows 1

OS:Win2K+service pack

GRRRRRRRRRRR !!! Since the past two weeks I cannot use my Microsoft word..each time I try to open it ..it says :WINWORD.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.You will need to restart the program.An error log is being created.

Sooo I runned my office 2000 cd to try and repair the damage but NO Can do!!

PLEASE HELP !! I'm desperate

Usually, "xxx.exe has generated errors....." is its own application problem. and it is often, not repaired only by repairing tools.

Uninstall Word and Reinstall it.

let me know whether it worked or not.

I have corrected this by getting the latest print drivers. Not sure if this will help, but I am not having this issue since the driver update. If it ain't broken, play with it till it breaks.

I was having the same problem. I loaded the service packs..I reinstalled and I repaired it. Nothing seemed to work. Mick's your idea of deleting everything from c:\program files\microsoft office\office\startup did the trick.
