I have a question regarding how Win2k Professional uses its WINS entry.
In the TCP/IP properties where you put the WINS entries, how does WIN2k use these WINS entries in what priority?
For example:
- If I have 3 WINS entries (A,B,C - With "A" being the first and "C" being placed last) how does WINS2k use these entries?
- Does it always use "A" and only move to "B" or "C" if
the previous server is unavailable or down?
OR
- Does it use by request? If "A" can't resolve "Workstation4", does it then go to "B" to attempt to resolve "Workstation4" and so forth?
I hope this is easily understood as I'm not sure if I'm explaining this right...
Thanks
