This is the error message I get when trying to open Volo View on a Windows 95 workstation. Voloview is a free cad drawing viewer and we have it on many workstations and it works fine. Frankly I'm puzzled, all same programs installed.....I tried copying the wininet.dll from another wksta to this one, no help...tried reinstalling program...no help.

Does anyone know what could possibly fix this problem without having to reload os?

thanks.

I guess I should also mention that the shlwapi.dll is in fact in the system directory so it is NOT missing. The entire error message reads:

Wininet.dll is linked to missing export shlwapi.dll:wnsprintfA

Again, thanks for any helpful response.

Debbie

Hello, Debbie2001.

The most probable cause is your shlwapi.dll is not of a version updated enough to meet the requirement of your application calling it.

Try to get a more updated IE package, 5.0 or above. Extract a copy of it and replace the existing one in \windows\system. (Since it is already registered with your system, a simple replacement will suffice.) A typical problem of the same category is for pub2000 as described in :

If that does not correct the problem, as you use win95, you probably have to go through a more elaborated procedure as described in :

tsuji is exactly right.

Or grab it from the cab files in the C:\Windows Update Setup Files. This would be the newest version if you've upgraded IE5.
