WinDVD.exe - Application Error

On my windows 2000, Toshiba Laptop, Every time When I try to run a DVD I am getting this message" The exception illegal Instruction. An attempt was made to execute an illegal instruction. (0xc000001d) occurred in the application at location 0x004187d1.
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program.

The program I am using to run the DVD is Win DVD. Any body knows what’s the problem is, and how to fix this. Your help on this matter is highly appreciated

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling WinDVD?

I did uninstalled and reinstall WinDVD, still it is not working.

OK.

1) Did it work at one point?
2) Any major changes in either hardware or software since the last time it worked?
3) Have you tried removing the DVD-ROM from Device Manager and rebooting?
4) Do data and music CD's read fine and play without problems?
5) Open windows explorer after popping in a DVD. Can you see the contents of the disc (like the Audio_TS or the Video_TS folders)?

You could also try a demo version of PowerDVD just as a test. I'm thinking your problem is related to a corrupt Windows 2000 setting (likely in the registry), but it could also be software-related.
