Hi
I have ghosted an image off another HDD to use on a Shuttle SV25SFF system HDD.
Problem is it will only boot as far as the windows screen and then hangs. It occasionaly reboots but eventually stays ate the Win98 screen. The scrolling colour bar at the bottom usually scrolls from left to right but this is static.
It will post ok so I could get into bios and start in safe mode. I have loaded all drivers etc one by one which is ok and reaches windows but hangs. I have cleared bios andre- set defaults

"I have ghosted an image off another HDD to use on a Shuttle SV25SFF system HDD".

Was the other system a Shuttle SV25SFF as well?
You have configurations, device drives..etc.. for a totally
different system than the one that it is in.

You could boot in safe mode and strip the device manager, but the best approach would be to format and do a clean install. Then install the device drivers for the Shuttle
SV25SFF and the rest of the hardware for this system.

YesI guess you're right I intended to eventually but I just wanted to see if I could get past this point .Similar generic boards will usually. thanks for youe reply. At least It looks like this system will be ok. It came to me as a non posting system.
