Hi,

I use WinXP which has zip compression already enabled in Windows itself.

Is there any way to zip files in Command Prompt. I would like to write batch file which compresses files to zip archive every day at 11 a.m. So after writing a batch file I will use scheduled tasks.

Thanks,
Grofaty

Hi,

I already have WinZip option, but I need to implement this solutution on 100 computers so installing WinZip on all this computers is very time consuming and also very costly.

Any idea?

Thanks,
Grofaty

I'm guessing you have a network and domain running 2000 or 2003?

Why dont you have all the files that need archiving on the server and just back it up once?

I dont know what program this is for, but make the data on the shared server folder, most programs let you do this easily.

That way you dont have to back up 100 machines, just back up one. Backing up 100 machines is a terrible way to do it.

Keep writing back, shoot down my ideas, I've got all day to figure something out for you.
Hopefully someone smart comes here soon to give you some input.

Hi,

there is not so much of a problem of backing up a 100 computers. The most problem is licences and installation.

So I would just need to run Windows zip from command prompt.

Thanks,
Grofaty
