Hello everyone, I really hope someone can help me with this. Before I went home for christmas I shut down my pc which has been running excellent for the last year, when I came back i turn it on and Windows XP pro wouldn't load and instead produces a black screen where the first windows logo appears just after the boot sequence.

I cant get into safe mode and exactly the same thing happens if I boot from the cd. Ive tried changing the graphics card and memory. Its really frustrating, ive been trying to get back on it all month and just cant get it to boot. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards
James

Thanks for that bcastner, but I get the black screen before i get to any of the options when i boot from the cd.

Nothing but a blank screen and only the reset button works.

Best Regards

Thanks bcastner but it doenst repeatedly restart and ive tested it with a pci graphics card i have taken out of another machine. It was a AGP graphics card originally.

Best Regards
