I had some ad/spyware on my computer and managed to delete it eventually.

However, I now get an error message on startup saying the computer can't find cdaengine0400.dll

Presumably it is trying to launch a program and can't find a file.

Now, in the old Windoze 3.x I would have expected to find the instruction for program launch in the autoexec.bat but XP duzznt have an autoexec.bat

So the question is, what duz Winders XP use instead of an autoexec.bat to tell the computer what to launch at startup and how do I get at it?

Thanx.

John

there's lots of places where these can occur...

goto Start>run>"msconfig" there'll be a startup tab in there...

Thank you, Crowley16.

A whole new world has opened up to me!

It gets more exciting when you're into the registry entries. ;-}

Hmmm...I wonder how fast Windows 3.1 will start on an Athlon64 FX57 with 4GB DDR3200 RAM and a 10,000 SATA150 HDD.....

Hehehe...

How fast? It won't start.. lol. Not unless it's in an emulator.
