what type of file is it? a system file? a hidden file? a network drive item?

Sounds like when you search for it on it showing up after using it that its finding the recent history folder file . Go to tools then folder options, check to show hidden files and folders. Now try the search again and see if you find it.

hello electronicsfreak,

Thanks for the reply. I enable that and still it does not show up.

Thanks

What is the name of this file? If its a windows system file you will have to allow system files to be shown. If you could though please tell us the name of this file.

electronicsfreak,

It's an auto cad drawing file.

Thanks

Make sure you have Hidden and System Files set to show (two boxes) in Control Panel/ Folder Options/ View.

And make sure your Search Preferences (for files and folders) are set to search System Files, Hidden Files and Sub-folders (three boxes). You'll finder them under "More Advanced Options" in the Search for files window.

Have a look in Help and Support under "To change the appearance of Search Companion".
