I reinstalled windows XP (SP2 slipstreamed), and I've had had lots of problems.
The main one is a problem with the computer reseting, as in doing the same thing as pressing the reset button would. I immediatly thought from past experiance of windows, there would be some conflict with IRQ's. The devices which I suspect both share IRQ 9, which are 'Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System' (the reason why I suspected it), and 'Intel(R) 82801EB SMBus Controller - 24D3'. The system resets randomly apart from it resets when I click or right click (but what I click on doesn't matter).

I have also got in the past an IRQL_not_less_or_equal error, but I have only got that once, normally it just resets straight away. I have read but it did not help.

Any ideas?

What happens when you boot to safe mode?

I havn't tried. It's quite hard to recreate this problem, for example I've been using it for about 30 mins now, but sometimes it will reset after less than 5 minutes. So do you mean just boot it in safe mode and see what happens or boot it in safe mode and just wait until it happens?

Yes, F8 when your computer starts, choose Safe Mode, WinXP, then check your Device Manager...

It's just the same apart from it also puts 'Realtek AC'97 Audio' on IRQ 9 as well.

If you check through the Device Manager and the Properties for any suspect devices you will see if there are any conflicts and whether the devices are working properly from messages displayed by Windows.

Running MsInfo32 from Start Run will also inform you if there are any problem devices (expand Components).

Check your Event Viewer. This will show you details of system errors you are having. Event Viewer is found in Computer Management via right clicking on My Computer. Any errors you find right click on them for further information.

Any errors logged in the Event Viewer can be expanded by double clicking on the error line.

Take any event error I.D. number and search for it on these sites.

Also check any "Information" line that mentions "savedump" and you should find reference to "recovered from a bug check". This is the Stop Error that caused your problem.

You can also turn off "automatically restart after an error" so it will just halt at the fault and display the full Stop Error and blue screen.

Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties .
On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery .
Click to clear the Automatically restart check box under System failure , and then click OK . The error message on a blue screen should remain on the screen so you can record the error information.

After Installing SP2, Uh-Oh Reboot,Reboot,Reboot
thread779-906754

There are no conflicts shown between devices. I have had a BSOD from bluetooth software which I have removed, but the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL problem still exists. I get Error code 1000000a, parameter1 00000016, parameter2 0000001c, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 804e63a3. Microsoft's knowledge base did not have any helpful articles with this error. I am pretty sure it will be a conflict as I said above, but I may be wrong. I didn't have this problem before SP2, they obviously really rushed its release.
