I have a Windows XP Professional PC (SP2). When I logoff or shutdown the PC just locks up. There are other PC's of the same build that don't have this problem, yet this one does. The mouse pointer just freezes and you have to power down at the mains.

This happens just a couple of seconds after the shutdown option is selected.

Any idea's.

Thanks

I would suggest looking at system logs to see if anything out of the ordinary surfaces. Additionally perhaps there is a conflict with your drivers, take a look at the device manager.

Nothing in the event viewer and the device manager shows no problems.

There are 80+ other PC's of the same build.

Thanks

I would look in the startup tab of msconfig and shut stuff off one at a time and see if the issue goes away.
It usually points to a software issue where something is running in the background and wont exit when told to shutdown
