Hello,

We are migrating our client computers to WXP Prof, but at the moment, the domain is based on Windows NT.
WXP prof. and Windows NT WorkStation will coexist during a time.
We Want to know which is the best way to applying policies in this environment (users group policies better).
On NT we are applying policies using ntconfig.pol file sited in \\...\netlogon share but this file isn´t compatible with WXP.

Is There any way to centralize policies in this mixed enviromment? Which is the best way?

Note:
We are migrating servers to W2000 but not Domain to Directory Active.

Thanks a lot

Note that if a GPO is created that is suitable for an XP client, but not for the Win NT client, it is simply ignored by the latter client. So, in short, write the GPOs for the XP client. This will reflect the normal life cycle of your existing workstations.

I think it might be a good idea to re-think your decision on not using AD if you are moving to Win2k servers.

Hello,

We will migrate to AD in near future.
But at the moment both clients will coexist.

I can create local policies on Windows XP but they are applied to all users including Administrators.

The idea is centralize (if it's possible) one domain users policy for both clients, XP and NT.

If is not possible , then two kind of policies, one for XP and other for NT

Thanks

Again, if the GPO does not apply for a WinNT or Win2k client, it is essentially ignored.

Write the GPOs as if all were XP clients.

Hi,

One question? Can we apply GPOs if we don´t have Active Directory yet?
