windows XP home boot up slowly when USB devices are attached

Good day everyone.

I have a problem with a machine where whenever any USB devices are installed it takes like 5-8 minuites to boot up. If I uplug these it boots up fine. I have all the latest updates installed and as you can imagine it is seriously annoying me now. Any help on this mater would be greatly appreciated.

the OS is windows XP home edition.

Thank you for your reply but unfortunately I already have this installed and it doesnt make any difference.

Any other suggestions?
