Ok i have this problem..
Im was running windows xp, no router, directly from ethernet card to my direct tv dsl modem. Everything was fine. I powered down, next morning i couldnt connect again.. so i called tech support and they said i should delete the lan connection that currently existed and uninstall and re-install my ethernet card again. So i did, so now Xp thinks that i have 2 connections.. i did this a couple of times and the number keeps incrementing im now up to 20 (but only one connection) ..lol.

i also tried deleting all the network protocalls and that seemed to work, the next time i rebooted it worked , but now.. it wont work anymore

any way, im still not able to connect and tech support doesnt know what i should do at this point.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks :)

I have run across this in 2000pro.
Try removing the nick card and boot up.
remove any nick cards and protocals you find for it in network properties and check device manager and see if any exist there.
Shut down, reinsert the nick card and boot up, install the drivers.
If you still have problems connecting, try releasing the ip address and renewing.
[cheers]
