okay here is the situation...I damaged my harddrive and replaced it will a new harddrive. I loaded windows all my app's etc. I am using my old harddrive as an external harddrive to try and get some of the information off of it. All my data is saved under a user account which was password protected at login. When I try to view the user accounts folders I get an "access denied" error. My guess is this is because those files are password protected. Is there any way to access the user account's data on my old harddrive which is being used as and external USB drive?

Create the same account with the same password on the new hard drive.

my accounts are the same and have the same password on both my new hard drive and the old external hard drive and still getting access denied

Start up normally and browse the external hard disk and go to: (dirve letter):/documents and settings/(your acount name)/my documents
Try it, in should work.
