Hello everyone,

Strange thing is happening, the CD/DVD-rom is recognized in the bios however, after Windows Vista is loaded its no longer detected. Also, its an optical Labelflash drive. Can anyone shed some light on this one?

Thanks in advance.

What is device manager showing?

When frustrated remember, in the computer world there is almost always a backdoor.

These type of problems are very often, but not always, fixed by removing Upper and Lower Filters from the Registry which are causing a problem.

The actual procedure is described in this old article.

CD-ROM Access Is Missing and Messages Cite Error Code 31, Code 32, Code 19, or Code 39 After You Remove Easy CD Creator in Windows XP

Was it ever listed in Windows, if so maybe System Restore is an option?

The following is the Device Status message I am getting.

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

lowKut - follow Linney's suggestion, although it talks about XP it is still viable for Vista...

or have a quick dirty look at the faq602-5328
