I'm running w2k server SP3 with AD and am using GPO's to administrate my windows XP clients(SP1 installed). W2k server SP3 supports a new administrative template that is included in XP for windows updates. Once I add the wuam.adm template to the appropriate GPO I want to set up the policy to have all my client XP machines in that OU download all critical updates and schedule the update for each day at 3:00 a.m.. The updates are supposed to run in the background even if a domain user is logged on without admin rights. Yes I can go to each machine and login as a local admin and set each machine to do this, but it seems like that's what this policy is supposed to do. All my other policies for the OU are working fine except for this windows update policy. Has anyone played with this policy yet?
