Has anyone else been getting errors when trying to run Windows Update on Win2k machines?? When I click the 'Install now' button, I get a "Windows Update Error" page and my only option is to send the error number(0x800A138F) to Microsoft. %-( I've had this happen on several machines recently and they are fresh/clean installs of Windows 2000. The only possible cause I can think of is Service Pack 3, but of course I can't find anything on Microsoft's site about it!!

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated!!! Mike Rohde

The link isn't showing up right when I post it!! Here is the text for the solution:

We had this problem a year ago this is the fix Micro$ gave us works every
time.

Shut down all instances of IE first.

Go to "Start" "Run" and enter:

regsvr32 iuctl.dll /u
regsvr32 iuengine.dll /u

Next, delete all instances of the local files with those names.

Now open update and it will give you the pop up saying it needs to install
Select yes and its all fixed it will install new vertion of iuengine.dll
that did not get copyed when you did the windows update from vertion 3.x to
4.x of updater.
