I have a Single Server Windows 2000 Domain.
The clients are connected to the server using a
10/100Mbps N-Way Switch.
If a client copies a file FROM the server the speed
is great, as 100m/bit should be.
If however, a client copies a file TO the server, the
speed is awfull.
I have tried changing the servers NIC, changing the switch,
changing the cabling, but nothing solves this.
I even when to the extream of re-installing the O/S
and even put it onto a 180day trial copy of
Windows Server 2003 just to see if that was it.
Still i have the slow uploads.
I can upload to any other machine perfectly, its just
THIS SERVER - and its sooo anoying.
The server copes well, there are only 9 clients and my laptop, making 10, it shares files, printers and has roaming user profiles.
The spec is: Athlon 2000xp / 1024mb DDR Ram / 2x20gb hdd 1x40gb hdd & a CD-RW Drive (all IDE).
The strange this about all this is if the server copies the file using windows shares FROM the client to itself, the
speed is perfectly file, its if the client uses a share
on the server to copy the file TO the server.
If anyone can help with this most strange problem
i would be very very greatfull!
Thanks in advance!
Robert
