I've just unshared one of our printers as I want to re-share a different printer with that name. However, when I try to share the new printer with that name windows just says that the share name already exists. I've gone to net share and had a look but there's nothing in there with that name. Anyone got any ideas why this is?

Did you restart the print spooler or the server? Also if this is a DC then check in AD and make sure there isn't a printer there.

You can use ADSI Edit to remove the "ghost" share. Just drill down the domain tree to your print server and delete the printer share.
