Hi all,

I want to do a windows repair of an existing windows 2003 server. First the system copies the necessary files on the HDD, then it reboots. After the reboot, the setup continues in gui mode and tries to continue, but after a few seconds I get a dialog window "Setup failed to install the product catalog. This is a fatal error... bla bla" after clicking ok I get some more info "The signature for windows upgrade is invalid. The error code is 80096001. A system-level error occured while verifying trust."

I did a lot of window repairs without any problems but this error, I never saw before, seems to be a very nasty one.

Keep in mind that:
The CD I used works for other configurations, It's a legal one
I can access the HDD and CD-rom drive (hitting Shift+F10 when getting the error gives a dos-promt from which you can start everything in windows like explorer, regedit...)
I tried renaming the windows\system32\catroot2 directory didn't work

Other question, When a server is in setup-mode everytime it boots you get the setup. Is it possible to change this, so the server boots again it's os. I want to try to repair the server add the proper drivers while it's in setup mode (hitting shift + F10) when I'm finished maybe it's possible with a registry setting to make te server boot the os instead of the setup? Is it possible?

thanks

Wim
