Does anyone have any experience or know of any good sites that explain how to successfully backup a MetaFrame XP server to include the local data store (imalhc.*) as well as the Jet Database (mfc20.*) using Windows 2000 Server NTBackup? In my nightly backup these files are flagged as skipped - in use. I really want to make sure I have "everything" included in my nightly backups.

This server is a "Member Server" running Windows 2000 Server SP3 and MetaFrame XP 1.0 FR1 (I know but upper level wants to spend no more money on this server for FR's).

Is it as easy as shutting down "IMA" and "Terminal Services" before starting the backup?

I am not a Citrix tech, so I am constantly learning new things about the Citrix Products as I go.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Check out faq48-3892 for some info about the data store but basically what you can do is either shut down the service before running the backup as you suggest or run the dsmaint program (eg using an "at" job or as part of the script - if you use one - that starts the standard backup) to create a backup of the database(s) first. The NT backup will skip the open databases but backup the saved backup files!

Cheers
