I have been looking at MS 'Power Tools', and played around with the 'Icons' utility, to remove the 'tails' form the desk-top short cuts.
Well, it did the job but completely ruined my desk-top layout. I tried 'Restore' but it didn't make any difference, so there was nothing for it but to 'rebuild ' my desk-top.
That's now done, but on boot-up I'm getting an error message everytime:-

Heading:-
"Springfld_Adv_Daemon:WksCat.exe - Entry Port Not Found"
Body of message:-
"procedure Get IMUS dynamic link library MSDART.DLL"

When I click on OK everythingworks and there's no further problem.

It looks to me like MSDART.DLL is something to do with System Restore?

I'd like to get rid of the error message, but have no idea what to do.Has anybody any ideas please?

While it won't actually fix the problem that may be causing the error message, I find the Startup Control Panel to be an excellent tool for getting rid of unwanted error messages caused by .DLL files amongst others.

More info and download here:

I would reccommend the 59kb version as this will install a permanent entry into your Windows control panel called "Startup"

You will see the .dll path from within one of the tabs (i forget which), and you can simply uncheck the box.

Hope this is useful to you.

Perhaps you have a mismatched version of MSDART.DLL?

You could look at this procedure to replace it.

Error Message: Procedure Entry Point Not Found in Msvcrt.dll File

It is part of "Microsoft Data Access - OLE DB Runtime Routines", so updating that may help. The version I have is "2.81.1117.0 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)", size is "148 KB (151,552 bytes)", and it is a System32 file.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the help. It was all very interesting and useful.
I chose to use the one supplied by 'schtek' to solve my problem, and, no more annoying message. Great!
Once again thanks to all for your time and effort, much appreciated.

thats good - msconfig & startup control panel offer much of the same functionality, although I find the Startup tool to be a bit safer as it does not give access to system.ini, boot.ini and win.ini.

Glad you have solved your problem.
