Windows media player on mac os x instillation problem

I just purchased a G4 powerbook (15") and am trying to install windows media player. I Have Mac OS X 10.4.1 and when I download it, It goes to the desktop, and appears as a piece of paper labeled "Windows Media.sitx". When I click on this, the message "There is no defaul application specified to open the document "Windows Media.sitx". appears. It gives the option of choosing an application, but i have tried most and I cannot get it to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also recommend VLC. Hell, I recommend VLC for Windows users, too. It's a great app.
