Windows Media Player 11 Plays DV but not MPEG

Hi All
I have recently installed Media Player 11 and have the following problem:
I have two identical video files side by side on a drive, the first captured in DV, The second captured in MPG.
MP 11 plays DV perfectly, but presents a flickering green screen when the MPG file is opened.
VLC and Power DVD open both files fine.
MP 10 opened both fine as well beforehand. I am suspecting a codec issue? I wonder if others have experienced the same green screen?

Hi Steve,
Unfortunately, M$ has a long history of releasing new versions before getting all the kinks out of it. I have heard from many clients of a variety of issues with WMP v11. I usually advise all not to rush into installing new versions of nonessential apps. As my Grandpa would say, "If it aint broke, don't fix it & if it is, hit it with a hammer." I wouldn't advise the latter but you might want to consider uninstalling WMP 11 and reinstalling version 10.

Try using VLC media player and avoid the WMP hassles. It will play just about everything you throw at it.

The have codecs for 32 and 64 bit OS and seem to work a treat.
