My buddy just got a new laptop and he's got these awesome screen savers but it seems they'll only work for MCEdition. I tried loading them into my system32 (on XP)but when i try to use one or configure it i get an error telling me i've got to have MCEd.

Is there a work around for this? These things are awesome on his laptop!

What screensavers are you referring to, what is the file extension? What does the download site say about system requirements?

Are you talking about the Windows "Dancers"?

There's a bunch, but for instance; space.scr is one. They come with MCEdition and they're legit windows screen savers. When launched under regular XP you get the following message:

The Space screen saver that is installed with Windows Digital Media Enhancements works only on Windows XP Media Center Edition.

The Space screen saver that is installed with Windows Digital Media Enhancements works only on Windows XP Media Center Edition."

That sort of spells it out then, for what it is worth I copied that screensaver from Media Center and clicked on install in plain old XP Pro, and it installed it in the Screen saver listings in Display Properties, but it refused to run (no message), it also installed something called "My Pictures Premium" and when I clicked on that I got the same message as you.

So without an illegal hack or similar, you might have to buy Media Center?

thank you for taking the time to repeat my initial post
