Windows Media 9

So here is my new problem.
I downloaded Windows Media 9 the other day. It was working perfectly. Then my computer crashed and when it loaded up there was problem with the registry, so it restored itself from the last backup. So I still have Windows Media 9 installed but it's running as my old windows media version. I tried reinstalling windows media 9 again, it allows me to, but then when I goto open Windows Media 9 an internal application error occurs. Any suggestions? Thanks

have you tried completely uninstalling the wm9 components and then reinstalling?
