I am trying to install a piece of software on my windows Me PC but cannot as i dont have access rights to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\AppForge, the company tells me i need to have complete access to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software portion of the registry.

I have no idea about the registry so i was wondering if one of you experts could tell me step by step what i need to do?

Tanks
Dan

Interesting. You should have full access to the registry.

1. Is laptop connected to a server that might be implementing some type of security policy?
2. What is the program, and do you know for a fact it is compatible with ME?

P.S. Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

the program is called AppForge, i told them about the error message i was getting and they said it was that i didnt have rights to the key. They said it can be quit common especially in XP. I am pretty sure the software is compatable with Me.

Well, if there is no server applying a security policy, call them back. You should not have this problem in 9x/ME, only NT/2000/XP, it has to be something else.
