I have a client that got hit by two viruses, the Dupator and the Opaserv. They have been cleaned off, but now they are experiencing some weird network problems on one computer. They are setup as a peer-to-peer network, and on the PC with the problem, it can't access network resources, such as shared drives unless you click the 'Start' button, then 'Logoff...'. It will then prompt you for a network username and password. After entering it, THEN you have network resources and operate correctly. I've never seen a computer problem like this where the only way to get network resources is to logoff then log back on, - it never prompts you for crendentials when doing a cold boot. Any ideas???

Thanks,

Mark

Reinstall Client for Microsoft Networks, if issue persists, try using system restore to rollback.

Matt-
Thanks for the response. I believe that I already did remove and re-install the Client for Microsoft Networks, and it didn't seem to fix it. I'm worried about the Restore due to the virus damage. Is there a Registry hack that I could do to wipe out all the network settings and start fresh?

If you go to network properties and remove all the networking elements and also remove the NIC from device manager (just doing this might be enough - but sometimes leaves the entries in network properties), and reboot, ME should (re) detect the NIC & reinstall networking elements. Might sort you out.
