Windows ME ALWAYS FREEZING UP!!!!!!

Help! I am getting very frustrated with the way that the computer, HP8755C keeps freezing up on me - I have eliminated the majority of my start-ups - HP told me that would keep it from happening - no luck - is there a bug in this system that I need to know about?????

What kind of CPU does this machine have.
Pentium II or III or Athlon
Celeron is not as good.
Lots of RAM 128 at least for NT
Access runs best on NT 4.0 and Win 2000 Pro
