hello again,
i think i am having some issues with my pc, i just want to removet the win98 network logon screen and have it go right into my desktop without clicking the cancel button or entering a password. any takers????
thanks in advance
popotech

Are you setup as a Peer-To-Peer Network?
If you are, then with windows 98 you must specify a password to gain access to you network, if you don't then your Network Neighbour hood will show an error.

So if you are using a network then you won't want to disable the password screen, b/c you won't be able to access your network.

If you're not using a network then BuddyG's advice will work. [cheers]

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Or delete *.pwl and reboot. When prompted for username and password, enter anything the username and leave the password blank.

cabraun,
Your suggestion only applies to a Windows Logon Prompt. Popotech seems to be talking about a "Network" Logon Prompt.

Popotech,
Here's the thorough way to do it:
