I cannot start the windows installer service (yes I am the administrator). Every time I right click on a file the windows installer tries to run (it does this twice). I get an error 5 access denied when I try and start the service. The Microsoft web site has a program to clean up the windows installer - this will not run because it requires the window installer. This prevents me from installing programs such as Nero or PartionMagic which try and configure the windows installer.

You may be the administrator , but u don't have access to these files .. so try to check the security tab in these files , and see if u have the suffisent privilage to run these files !
