Someone please help with this... The Domain controller we have is running Windows 2000 Server. I tried to install an application and it gave me an error something like this.

The installer was interrupted before XXX could be installed. You need to restart the installer and try again.

I have rebooted multiple times and I have tried the following.

1) Gave SYSTEM account full control on root drive and all registry hives.

2) ran "msiexec /unregister" and "msiexec /regserver"

3) ran "msizap * ALLPRODUCTS"

4) manually deleted all registry keys related to Windows Installer, removed the service and re-installed Windows Installer 2.0

4) Did the same as #4, and then re-installed SP4.

5) Made sure that DCOM was setup properly

NONE of the above corrected the problem. In face, this is kind of bizzare; When I tried to install Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Pro, it told me the CD-KEY was invalid. So, I tried 2 more brand new CDs with their own CD-KEYS straight out of the box and it said those were invalid too! It won't install Office either... it says that one can't be installed with Windows in Terminal Server mode and needs the resource kit to install. After I press ok, it gives me the message that office install exited with an error.

I ran a simple Windows Installer ".exe" and ".msi" with logging msiexec /i package.msi /lv log.txt and this is the output...

Can someone please help me with this... I'm beating my head against the wall and have no clue what is wrong.

Thanks

WOOOO HOOOO .... Just found the solution. I found this on a different forum site and like the author said. I've been doing computers now for over 6 years and this suprised me.

Remove the registry Value HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Ole\DefaultAccessPermissions This will solve the above problem along with many others like IE not allowing a new window to be opened from a link and JavaScript unable to be debugged.

Thanks anyway
