Hi, We have a dell P4 Pc running windows 2000 pro and it hangs in Windows explorer and My computer we have installed sp2 which made no difference every other applications runs fine and the PC is on a network (Novell intranet ware 4.11 and NT 4) using a Client 32 login.
We have identical Pc's with the same software on the same network all on the same subnet that does not have a problem.
In fact I am sure that this is a Ghost of my pc, which is ok. Any suggestions????

Anything in event viewer?

Possible hardware issue?

One common reason for this is if there are mapped drives and they are or become unavailable.

If you remove all mapped drives, does the problem persist?

Hi,

First Wolluf well yes but strangle the application log is corrupt but there are is quite a bit in the system log I have checked them against mine as the pc's are the same and one sticks out.
Type: Error Source: Server
The value named IRPStackSize in the server's Registry key LanmanServer\Parameters was invalid. The value was ignored, and processing continued.

I can’t see this causing any problems but I will check and I have created a new Apps log.

Secondly Bcaster I cant think that is a problem although I was thinking of changing the network cable. All are network/mapped Drives are fairly stable and there are a lot I have 15 on my pc some Netware some NT. I sometimes find that explorer is slow or does not show all mapped drives straight away, but the PC in question needs rebooting at least 5 or 6 times a day.

See my notes in this earlier discussion of the problem: thread779-653536

Right,

Bcaster I have checked and the value was very high something loike 49572255 and not below 50 as suggested I have set this to 11 and I will test it Thanks a Lot.

Its very much a case of not seeing the wood form the trees we should have checked the event log first..
