Hi.

We have someone in our office thats uses a office type keyboard with the function keys. She must have hit some keys and she lost her menus/toolbars in explored. When she right clicks the start button, then explore she doesn't get the two divide screens with the scroll or any toolbars/icons.

I tried to go into folder options and reset to default but that didn't work.

Anyone have any suggestions, this has happened before but I forget what I did to fix it.

Thanks

Matt

On your View menu, you should have Toolbars/Standard selected. Along with Explorer Bar/Folders.

If you press Alt and the V key, do you get the View menu up then?

doesn't matter if I use the command prompt I still don't have any menus or toolbars.

We don't use system restore so thats not an option.

Have the user try Safe Mode, or logon on in Normal Mode as a different user, see if there is any improvement? If there is it might be suggesting a corrupt profile or even malware.

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right-click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking. Select both boxes.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
