Alright. I've done it now. I checked the box that told it to dial when it wanted to. BAD MOVE. I am sick of it dialing in every 5 minutes. How do I correct my error? Also, wheat is the biggets difference between WinXP Home and Pro?? Im getting a laptop and need to know if it is worth the extra $79. Thanks!

Is the never dial a connection set checked under internet options under the connection tab? If it is uncheck it.

That was the first thing that I looked at. It is set to never dial a connection. The only thing that keeps it from dialing is if I bring up the dialup window and just dont click dial

Sounds like perhaps an application that you recently installed may be causing this behaviour. I had a problema while back with an application that would connect to web and look for product updates every time I started my system, but it bothered me so much that I finally disabled the auto connect feature. If your unsure which program may be the culprit try Control+Alt+Del together and look under the tab "applications" or "processes." Try to indentify the listed programs and any that look suspicious can be either deleted in "Add/remove Programs" or disabled in the program itself by opening the options tab of the program and disabling the automatic connect to Internet option.

Maybe there is a scheduled task thats doing this .
Check the task scheduler , and if there are some
that you suspect , and if it is disable them.

Another possible issue could be an application you recently installed. In my case an app. called, "Weather Bug" is doing the same thing on my system. When I don't want to connect I uncheck the dialup screen option to connect automatically. Thereafter, I need to select connect when I do want to connect. It was annoying for me when I would play a video game I would get a "Run-time error" everytime I lost my connection. Try this and see if it help. Keep us all posted when you discover the cause of the problem.
